At Blix Architecture we work with our clients to create world leading wellbeing projects with a scientific approach.

Who We Are

Blix Architecture was founded by Georgina Blix.

This studio focuses on how we understand, design for, and measure wellbeing with a particular focus on urban design, education, and architecture.

Design for wellbeing is a key focus for state and federal government, policy makers, and designers. Design has the ability to offer solutions to some of society's most complex challenges. Our practice offers a research and data informed approach to:

  • Design for diversity and inclusion

  • Design for women and gender diverse people’s safety

  • Neurodiversity

  • Inter-generational Design

  • Trauma informed design

  • Design for connection and reduced loneliness

  • Community wellbeing frameworks

  • Design for flow, joy, health and meaning

What is Wellbeing?

At blix we define wellbeing as a framework made of elements which together help people and communities to flourish. We use the PERMA(H) model (by M.Seligman), an acronym that explains each of these elements.

Its about the qualities of our lives that have meaning and how we connect with our community.

As creators of the built environment it is about how we connect people, place and culture through the built form. For some projects it is a lens to assess the project outcomes. For others we have specific wellbeing challenges to address through design.

We work with the latest research and are helping to create new research too. We want to know how architecture and urban design can include all of the PERMA(H) elements and tackle other wellbeing challenges like loneliness, creating a sense of choice and autonomy for residents, and how to create connection to place and community.

Great design + wellbeing = impact.

Some of our big challenges:

How can we design to reduce loneliness?

How can we connect people with a sense of meaning and community through architecture?

How can we design a new part of the city with all elements of wellbeing?

How can we measure the wellbeing impact of our work? (We think it could be possible.)
